A New Way to Print on the Go

Have you ever been away from your office, and gotten a document or photo in your email that you knew you were going to have to print? You’re looking at the document on your smartphone, but without a way to print right then you’ll have to remember to open the same file again and print it when you get back to your computer.

There are a lot of ways to print from your smartphone or tablet today – printing apps, server-based solutions, printers with software built-in that work with certain types of smartphones or tablets. The options are many and the reasons to choose one over the other depend on a number of factors that may not be clear.

Xerox PrintBack is a new, simple and FREE mobile solution that extends the print capabilities you already have on your computer to your iOS– or Android-based smartphone or tablet. You print back to the printer you already use, from anywhere, with very little set-up.

Think of PrintBack as your personal printing app. Here’s how it works:

  1. Install the PrintBack app on your smartphone or tablet to initiate print jobs.
  2. Use Dropbox or one of the select web-based email services to transport jobs from your smartphone or tablet to your computer.
  3. Install the PrintBack agent on your Mac or Windows-based computer to print jobs that are submitted to your default printer.

Why choose PrintBack? Did I mention it is free?  Plus, it works with any network printer or MFP regardless of manufacturer. It also supports Microsoft Office formats, PDFs, photos, and Apple iWork files. Emails and web-content can be printed using the clipboard on your smartphone or tablet as well. And you get the same print quality and formatting you would when printing from your computer.

Check out PrintBack and its systems requirements. Let us know if you have questions, and most importantly, tell us what you think.
