Real Life Users Sound Off On Xerox’s ConnectKey Technology

Imagine a multifunction printer (MFP) that can instantly translate a document into more than 35 languages, or be custom built to meet customers’ particular business needs. That is how Xerox describes their new 2016 Xerox ConnectKey Technology-enabled i-Series MFPs, which provides those services and more, allowing businesses to go beyond printing, scanning, faxing and copying, with advanced workflows that bring new value to your business-critical document processes.

On March 10, 2016 Xerox announced the launch of 14 ConnectKey-enabled MFPs, each one equipped with ready-to-use apps to speed up paper-dependent business processes and make it easier for users to collaborate and work more effectively.

2016 Xerox ConnectKey Technology is a combination of technology and software intended to equip business of all sizes with a critical competitive advantage.

But what are real life users saying? The Xerox product development team provided customers with early access and asked them what they thought. First up was a large Canadian University. Here’s what they had to say.

Getting more done with mobile

While mobile printing may already seem ubiquitous, research from IDC says that about 40% of people don’t know how to use it. And with mobile printing predicted to grow dramatically over the next two years as access to digital content increases, it’s no surprise that customers appreciated the simplicity of mobile printing with the ConnectKey-enabled MFPs, which include ready-to-use MFP apps right on the user interface.

With the @PrintByXerox App, a free mobile cloud printing solution, employees and visitors can securely print from any mobile or network connected device to an ConnectKey-enabled MFP by way of a single email address without IT support. If your device can send an email, it can print. QR Codes on the front panel let users pair to the device in a snap, without needing any information to get set up.

“So much is mobile now, and a lot of the people at the University have documents on their phones so it’s nice to have this mobile capability right on the 5920i and 7920i devices.”

Industry expert Ken Stewart, from the Photizo Group, felt similarly, when introduced to mobile on ConnectKey:

“Being the natural skeptic, I was expecting to be underwhelmed by yet another vendor’s version of its mobile printing app. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by a well thought out, platform-based approach to mobile printing. As a former IT infrastructure manager, I could see obvious and clear benefits that bridged security and convenience in a workable model.”

While printing outputs your ideas on paper, scanning brings paper back into your digital workflows. Scan to email is one of the easiest ways to get started with scanning. For quick, ad-hoc jobs, sending a scanned document to your email inbox only takes a few clicks. From the device, you can select from a host of options, including making your file searchable or requiring a PIN code to open it.

“We use the Scan to Email feature a lot. It is streamlined and easy, just a couple of clicks! We could not live without it.”

MFPs that flex with your needs

ConnectKey-enabled MFPs adapt to the way businesses work – on-the-go, virtually and through the cloud – allowing companies to meet today’s business trends, challenges and opportunities.

“The thing I like most about 2016 Xerox ConnectKey Technology is the productivity & convenience it provides.”

“2016 ConnectKey provides a common interface across the University campus, so we can quickly and easily help our students and peers stay productive.”

Apps with a personal touch

The Xerox App Gallery is pre-loaded directly on the user interface to give users easy access to a variety of apps from Xerox and partners.

Now available on iOS and Android, the Mobile Link App lets users create one-touch, automated workflows on their mobile devices to remotely control a ConnectKey-enabled MFP and transmit documents to fax, email and cloud hosted services like Box, Dropbox and Google Drive. A new camera capture feature squares and straightens photos of documents taken with a mobile device, and workers can route them directly to relevant departments.

“2016 ConnectKey means streamlining processes; there are less clicks and less jumps required to get the job done.”

Security and service essentials

2016 Xerox ConnectKey technology continues to offer real-time protection from internal and external threats. Now with secure print and scan encryption, and print job deletion at power up, companies can ensure documents remain confidential, protecting themselves from data breaches.

Service and quality are essential parts of the equation when you’re making a big investment for your organization.

“Xerox is much better than the competition when it comes to the quality of service. This is one of the reasons we have Xerox products across the entire University campus.”

“The copy quality of the WorkCentre 7920i is fantastic, many folks on campus agree and come to us to specifically to use this Xerox device.”

“The 7970i has very slick image quality; I’ve been in the printing business for over 20 plus years, This small MFP is impressive with image quality, finishing and speed. It’s one of our campus favorites.”

While Xerox is expected to release additional feedback from other customer trials in the weeks to come, these early reports indicate plenty of new enthusiasm for this current customer favorite.
